Tess of the d'Urbervilles A Pure Woman Faithfully Presented, also known as Tess of the d'Urbervilles A Pure Woman, Tess of the d'Urbervilles or just Tess, is a novel by Thomas Hardy, first published in 1891. It initially appeared in a censored and serialised version, published by the British illustrated newspaper, The Graphic. It is Hardy's penultimate novel, followed by Jude the Obscure. Though now considered an important work of English literature, the book received mixed reviews when it first appeared, in part because it challenged the sexual mores of Hardy's day. The original manuscript is on display at the British Library, showing that it was originally titled "Daughter of the d'Urbervilles."

Sometimes great classics really are great. Inexorable, beautifully written, socially and sexually ahead of its time, and so devastating you should really plan to spend a few days recovering when you are done.Product details

Tess of the D'Urbervilles Full Version Annotated Literary Classics Collection Book 55 edition by Thomas Hardy Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Obviously, this is a classic novel, and the story itself really doesn't need a review.
The annotated style was helpful, it but it was annoying to be jumping back and forth between pages.
good
I enjoyed the movie very much. I loved the actors playing the roles-they did an excellent job. I'd watch it again.
The annotations help immensely. Really enjoying this book. Who am I to critique Thomas Hardy? I am a mere mortal kindle reader. )
A historical fiction which tells about the lives of women and their struggles just to survive in 19th century England. In our day and age it is difficult to imagine having to go through her struggles.
I decided to read this after watching and enjoying the BBC production this version is associated with. Formatting is great for the and it's a wonderful story. Some of the annotations are pretty superfluous, but overall a great version.
Long before Fifty Shades made this book popular, I was a big fan. I read it for the first time in high school and it was one of the few classics that I enjoyed. I've read it a few times since then and I understand more and more with each reread. Great book!
